Job Desctiption:

Iririki Island Resort & Spa is seeking suitable candidate to appoint for the role of Purchasing Officer.  Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the duties for this role will include:

• Develop and maintain relationship with local and international suppliers to ensure competitive pricing
• Maintain stock levels and storage areas and management of inventory allocation and distribution
• Ensure standardisation of systems, equipment and consumables and implement changes to reduce cost and minimize waste
• Manage incoming and outgoing goods and also assist with the allocation of inventory
• Liaise with our international and local freight handlers and customs department to ensure efficient delivery of goods
• Contact suppliers to obtain information on price, quality and delivery capabilities for the supply of goods and services
• Find reliable sources (local, national & international) to apply goods and services
• Submit recommendations to company officers regarding potential new products and sources
• Determine suitability of products and place orders
• Ensure orders placed are delivered in a timely and efficient manner.
• Processes the necessary clearance documents
• Ensures the proper management of procurement department operations in the absence of the Head of department
• Carries out all necessary procurement activities
• Verifies quantification of orders
• Submits final invoices to the Finance and Accounts Department
• Perform other related duties and assignment as required by the Management

 

Selection Criteria:

The successful candidate will have the following attributes:

• The successful applicant must have previous purchasing experience preferably in a Resort
• Liaise professionally with customers and fellow staff alike
• Be prepared to get the information you need for your role
• High level problem solving capabilities
• Strong Microsoft Office skills (excel/word/outlook/MYOB), as well as experience with Hotel Accounting systems and be able to quickly learn industry specific software
• Exposure to foreign currency transactions will be useful
