Job Description
|
The Youth and
Volunteering Officer supports branch development and decentralisation of VRCS
programs and activities. They will focus on the youth and volunteering
aspects of development. Details of their duties and responsibilities are on
the following page.
They will work in line with VRCS’s Strategic Plan and Code of Conduct. They will follow VRCS policies and procedures, and VRCS’s Roadmap for Decentralisation. They will help VRCS to achieve the standards of the BOCA (Branch Organisational Capacity Assessement) and OCAC (Organisational Capacity Assessment and Certification). |
Selection Criteria

Working experience in the
humanitarian, development or volunteer sector
Experience volunteering for VRCS or an NGO Experience in working with young people & community Ability to run training workshops Demonstrated experience with youth leadership Good oral and written communication skills Ability to develop policies and procedures Knowledge of Human Resource (HR) management Computer literate (Microsoft – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, etc.) Fluently spoken and written English and Bislama Always acts honestly and with integrity (refer to VRCS Code of Conduct) Is able to work well both independently and in a team Has excellent interpersonal and sharing skills (gets on well with other people) Manages their time well Is able to be flexible and adapt to different situations Cultural awareness and sensitivity of the needs of others Confidence in ability to resolve problems in challenging situations |

for a qualified and experienced fiberglass boat builder to help expand our
range of boat manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities: Assessment of capabilities and creation of a developmental plan, to include the equipment and investment required Manufacture of the range of moulds and tooling required to cover the planned product range Delivery of all on-the-job training in order to improve skills and capabilities in terms of production using hand-laid fiberglass mat/resin and gelcoat Management and oversight of all manufacturing activity in order to improve process efficiency, output volume and the quality of the finished products. This will include painting (if required) and finishing to an appropriate and consistent standard (Ideally in the medium to longer term) Creation of appropriate workplace documentation to capture key operational procedures, work routines and materials specifications to help embed the improvements as they are realised and serve as living documents to realise ongoing improvements and serve as a point of reference for staff. |

Trade Cert. Boat builder
with not less than seven years’ experience, working with Fiberglass and
gelcoat
Track record to include leadership and/or managerial experience Prior experience of running a small business or a dedicated fiberglass production unit would be a strong advantage because you will enjoy considerable autonomy in this role and be expected to guide the senior management in terms of what has to be done to achieve their objectives Excellent work ethic and mature work habits (role model) Confident self-starter Effective communicator Excellent attention to detail Preparedness to mentor staff and share your skills and expertise to improve the team’s professional skills, capabilities and performance. |
