The Ministry of Climate Change Adaptation (MCCA) wishes to advertise the position of Compliance Officer within the Department of Environmental Protection & Conversation (DEPC).

Job Title: Compliance Officer
Post No: 6938
Salary Grade: So 5.0
Annual Salary: VT 1,764,000

Criteria:
Qualification Criteria
  • A tertiary qualification, minimum of a degree (bachelors) in any of the following or related fields:  Environmental Studies or Environmental Management; or
  • A certificate or diploma in legal studies, preferably with some courses in Environmental Law and Natural Resource Management.
Experience Criteria
  • A minimum of two years’ experience in compliance related work. Some experience in investigation and litigation related work would be desirable
  • Demonstrate reporting skills and professionalism in conducting compliance work
  • Familiar with the Environmental Protection & Conservation Act – EPC Act [CAP 283] and other environmental related legislation in the Republic of Vanuatu.
  • Some familiarity with multilateral environmental agreements that Vanuatu is signatory to, and are implemented by the Department.
Special Skills
  • Computer literate
  • Report writing and environmental assessment skills.

  • An analytical and practical thinker.
Behavioural Competencies
  • Competent and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication skills, good personality and can work with other staff

  • Professional experience in the disability sector
  • Some experience in private sector partnerships is an advantage

Job Description:
Iririki Island Resort & Spa is seeking suitable candidate to appoint for following position.

Reporting to the Chief Financial Controller/Assistant Financial Controller, the duties for this role will include:
  • Provide an efficient and accurate Accounts Payable Service
  • Work closely with all departments at the Resort
  • Follow correct procedures so that payments can be made in an efficient manner
  • Obtain monthly statements from creditors
  • Ensure all invoices are cross-matched against orders, quoted prices are correct and VAT rules applied
  • Perform weekly/monthly creditors reconciliations
  • Process overseas payments and settle general/overhead creditors
  • Liaise with government departments such as Labour, Immigration, VNPF, VAT, VIPA and others
  • Maintain proper supporting documents and filing systems for all payments
  • Investigate any dispute or long outstanding payables
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned by the CFO and his absence the Assistant Financial Controller.
Criteria:
The successful candidate will have the following attributes:
  • The successful applicant will have previous experience in a Resort, as well as:
  • Be able to take control of the entire accounts payable function
  • Liaise professionally with customers and fellow staff alike
  • Be prepared to get the information you need for your role
  • High level problem solving capabilities
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (excel/word/outlook), as well as experience with Hotel Accounting systems and be able to quickly learn industry specific software
  • Exposure to foreign currency transactions will be useful.
