Job Description:

The Ombudsman invites applications for the Public Service post No.0919 for Senior Investigator/ Language Rights.

DUTIES:

Conduct investigations into alleged breaches of language rights pursuant to Article 64 (2) of the Constitution;

Able to prepare a special report each year to Parliament concerning the observance of multilingualism in Vanuatu and the measures likely to ensure its respect;

Able to translate all official documents which includes all Ombudsman public and annual report into the 3 official languages;

Perform other investigative duties;

Able to correspond with and be the Ombudsman correspondent and contact officer to the Association Des Ombudsmans et Médiateurs de la Francophonie (AOMF);

Prepare and conduct press interviews on Public Reports issued by the Ombudsman;

Conduct mediation between parties;

Accompany and assist the Ombudsman with Public Awareness meetings;
