Organisation Description:
The purpose of the college is to be the Centre for the training of farmers and acquisition of farming technologies and skills for enhancing agriculture production and in so doing contributing to the economic and social development of Vanuatu.
The College has the following functions:
(a) to provide the population of Vanuatu with efficient and effective technical, vocational and continuing agricultural training that are responsive to the needs of the primary industry, students and the general community at large;
(b) to play a leadership and coordinating role in the technical, vocational and continuing education in the sectors of agriculture, forestry, fisheries and livestock and in agro-enterprises;
(c) to facilitate the training of farmers and enhance their knowledge and skills and work cooperatively with the Ministry, Ministry of Education and other technical, vocational and continuing educational providers;
(d) to provide facilities and resources for the welfare of staff and students;
(e) to issue certificates, diplomas and other awards that comply with the national standards as established by the Vanuatu National Training Council, and maintain records of graduates and their credentials;
Job Desctiption:
The Vanuatu Agriculture College Council is seeking a highly skilled and motivated IT Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate will not only have strong technical expertise but also possess the ability to train students and effectively manage Moodle delivery. This role requires a proactive individual who can handle multiple tasks and contribute to the continuous improvement of our IT and educational services.
Selection Criteria:
Key Responsibilities:
• Technical Support:
o Provide technical support to staff and students, resolving IT-related issues promptly.
o Maintain and troubleshoot hardware and software systems.
• Training:
o Develop and deliver training programs for students on various IT-related topics.
o Create instructional materials and conduct hands-on training sessions.
o Assess and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs.
• Moodle Management:
o Oversee the administration and maintenance of the Moodle learning management system (LMS).
o Manage course setups, user accounts, and permissions within Moodle.
o Provide support and training to faculty and students on Moodle usage.
• IT Infrastructure:
o Assist in the implementation and maintenance of the IT infrastructure.
o Ensure network security and data protection measures are in place and up to date.
• Project Management:
o Participate in IT-related projects and initiatives.
o Collaborate with various departments to understand and fulfill their IT needs.
• IT parc management
o Provide and ensure an update IT inventory
o Daily monitoring of network and system.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Proven experience as an IT Officer or similar role.
• Proficiency in managing and delivering training programs.
• Extensive knowledge and experience with Moodle LMS.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Familiarity with network administration and security.
Preferred Skills:
• Experience in an educational setting.
• Certification in IT-related fields.
• Knowledge of other e-learning platforms and tools.
• Knowledge on Windows and Linux environment
• Good knowledge in Active directory.
• Knowledge in managing IT network equipment such as switches/router/firewall (knowledge in FortiGate firewall will be a plus)
