Job Description:
The Vanuatu Agricultural Research and Technical Centre (VARTC) in Santo is mandated to conduct scientific research and development activities in the fields of agriculture, livestock, forestry and fisheries with the ultimate purpose of using the information to enhance knowledge, development and to improve the livelihood of the citizens of Vanuatu. The Centre was formerly known as the IRHO since pre-independence days in 1980.

The Vanuatu Agricultural Research and Technical Centre is seeking to recruit a suitable person for the position of Farm Manager. 

This field job is varied and includes:
  • Controlling staff clocking in every morning at 7am
  • Bringing clocking timecard to accounts department
  • Controlling staff work and presence in field, nursery and offices
  • Monitoring production activities on the station
  • Attending weekly staff meeting
  • Following up the good implementation of programs presented during the weekly staff meeting
  • Watching over field against thefts and malicious acts
  • Assisting the CEO in Human Resources duties
  • Assisting the secretariat to coordinate running of vehicles and get quotation of right materials when needed
  • Assisting/ coordinating landscaping activities
  • Coordinating activities related to pre- disaster and after disaster and report
This position reports directly to the CEO

Criteria:

  • Natural leadership and authority
  • Good problem-solving ability
  • To enjoy working outside in all kinds of weather
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • At least 5 years’ experience in team management in field
  • Languages: Bislama compulsory, also good level either in English or in French.

  • + Bonus if absenteeism decreases significantly
  • + Additional allowance based on station yield growth
