The duties and responsibilities will include:

  1. The Executive Director position has overall responsibilities for managing and ensuring the long term sustainability of international volunteer program and local programs run by YCV;
  2. Provide oversight of volunteer program placing 2-3 teams of international throughout Vanuatu twice a year;
  3. Oversee the management of the livelihoods and leadership programs which are focused on helping Ni-Vanuatu youth succeed in securing employment and small business ventures. Local program include Ready for Work, the Youth Drop-In Centre, and the Future Leaders Program with Offices in Port Vila and Luganville;
  4. The important position will work to monitor the performance of 3 direct reports which include the Finance Officer, the Youth Center Coordinator and the Program Manager (who is responsible for managing 4 Coordinators from the Future Leaders Program and the Ready for Work Program);
  5. The Executive Director is responsible for managing relationships with donor partners and ensuring that all reporting commitments are completed in a timely and effective manner, representing YCV with external  stakeholders and support the work of YCV Board in ensuring the ongoing and effective management of the organization.
The successful candidate will be assessed in accordance with the following requirements listed:


Criteria:

  • Experience in a leadership position, preferably with an NGO; Experience in an organizational and program development with a proven record for increasing organizational performance, implementing creative strategies and driving growth;
  • Sound knowledge in project management and experience in robust, accountable management of financial resources;
  • Demonstrated capability to apply sound judgment and strategic thinking to complex issues;
  • Strong communication and networking skills;
  • High level of spoken and written English and Bislama, with French as an asset;
  • Familiarity with the work of YCV;
  • A degree/diploma in a relevant field is preferred;
  • Passionate about working with a team of young and dynamic staffs, volunteers and board of YCV.

Job Description:
The Public Works Department (PWD) wishes to recruit a high quality engagement professional to guide the development of it's decentralization strategy, to build strategic partnerships with Provincial Authorities and communities in delivering infrastructure solutions for the islands focussing on the work roads. This initiative is supported by the Roads for Development Program (R4D) a long-term partnership between the Governments of Vanuatu (GoV) and Australia (GoA). R4D phase 2 will support the Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Utilities and PWD in institutional strengthening and to improve rehabilitation and maintenance of road transport infrastructure in the provinces.

The Senior Community Partnership Officer (CPO) will lead the PWD in implementing community/stakeholders and social issues consultations with associated communities regarding road works. An important initiative of this work is to development a national community - based contracting framework to engage community groups in assisting with preventative maintenance of roads and infrastructure assets. The Senior CPO will also responsible building awareness and capacity of social safeguards practice and compliance within the program and the Ministry's policies and strategies. In addition, the position will assist with the development of information collection systems at the community level for general data collection for monitoring and evaluation.
