The Position

The Program is currently seeking applications for the position of Early Years Literacy (mother tongue) Specialist to assist the Curriculum Development Unit (CDU) of the Ministry of Education. The Specialist will lead and coordinate a language and literacy team established to implement key program objectives in Early Years Literacy and its application in primary schools. This position will

oversee the development of

• support materials and guidelines to assist teachers in the implementation of the literacy (mother tongue) outcomes of the Year 1-3 curriculum

• materials to support the implementation of the Language Policy in Primary Schoo

• materials for in-service training of teachers in literacy (mother tongue) Years 1-3"

To be successful for this position:

Criteria:

- The ideal candidate will have post-graduate qualifications in literacy education or a related field;

- Experience in providing high level technical advice in early literacy development;

- And direct experience in the development of teacher training and teacher support materials for literacy learning;

- An ability to lead and manage a team to achieve program outputs, combined with excellent interpersonal skills to understand and meet the needs of a range of stakeholders, is critical to the success of this position and

its impact to the effectiveness of the program.
