About the role

The overall goal of the Save the Children Vanuatu Education Program is to support children and young people in Vanuatu to learn the skills and knowledge they need to thrive and meet their potential.

The Education program is working towards strategic outcomes for basic education, education in emergencies, early childhood education and education for youth empowerment.



The School Disaster Management Project Officer will:

- Support the planning and implementation of activities in Save the Children’s School Disaster Management Project.

- Assist in the development of project Information, Education and Communication materials.

- Coordinate and deliver training and field activities with schools Ministry of Education staff including collection of data for monitoring and evaluation.

The Transport Sector Support Program is a 15 year commitment of support by the Government of Australia to the Government of Vanuatu through the Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Utilities. Since September 2009 AusAID has been supporting the program to rehabilitate and construct priority roads on the Islands of Ambae, Malekula and Tanna to increase access to market and

social services for the rural poor and disadvantaged.

The purpose of the role is to provide administrative, financial and reporting support to the program, as well as, implementation of the programs communication strategy. Reporting to the Team Leader in a full time capacity, this position will offer a broad range of duties, however the main responsibilities will include:

1)Ensure all staff are aware of the program administrative procedures and that they are adhered to.

This includes the programs human resource and reporting procedures

2)Carry out a range of finance and accounts related activities, including accounts payable, reconciliations, cash flow management and budgeting.

3)Support the programs IT and communications. This include liaising with program external IT provider and assisting in the updating of the programs internet site.

4)Provide logistical to the team by arranging all travel and ensuring the project vehicles are serviced and well maintained.

5)Coordinate meetings and worKshops, which include preparing and distributing the relevant documents

6)Ensure the programs filling systems are maintained in line with the programs procedures

7)Travel to provinces on an as needs basis to support program activities

8)Working in a close team environment, you will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, professional presentation and a strong work ethic, with a focus on detail and time management
