The Government through the VAC council seeks to recruit an experienced and qualified person to the position of Farm Manager for the VAC. The Contract will be for 3 years with a 1 year probationary period. Duties and responsibilities:

1) Draft a farm plan for the operation of the college farm

2) Provide leadership and day to day operations of the farm, ensuring that it operates in accordance with the college farm plan approved by the council

3) Assist the principal in the continuous monitoring of the college curriculum and ensuring that farm operations tailored toward commercial agriculture

4) Ensure that the farm has adequate and appropriate logistics in providing hands on training and facilitate technical support for students in doing field practicals

5) Ensure that the general staff of the farm performs satisfactorily and ensure that farm resources including funds and equipment are used for intended purposes

6) Provide hands on training for students in all aspects of farm operations, including us of machineries and quality standards compatible with export requirements

7) Run the college farm profitably so as to contribute to the targeted college income and supply the VAC kitchen

8) Conduct any other task as may be determined by the college council and CEO.

Criteria:

- Demonstrated background in agriculture and commercial farm management with at least five (5) years as a farm manager; Some understanding of agribusiness and experience in export production of a variety

of Vanuatu crops and livestock; Experience in working according to a plan, and imparting farming skills to students; Knowledge of agriculture research and training needs of commercial agriculture in Vanuatu

- Ability to operate crop and livestock farms including the construction and maintenance of farm infrastructure; Ability to work with foreign experts and possess effective communication and interpersonal

skills, including the ability to communicate fluency in english and or french and be able to produce reports proposals for consideration by the council

- Be physically fit, have skills to operate tractors, associated implements and other equipment, including ability to attend to minor breakdowns and maintenance; Willingness to travel to other locations to

monitor and assist students during practical exercises; Must have at least an undergraduate degree in agriculture, agriculture sciences or related science discipline

- Undergraduate diploma desirable; Must have some demonstrated operational and strategic management training.

The Government through the Vanuatu Agriculture College Council seeks to recruit an experienced and qualified person to the position of Agri – Business Training Manager for the Vanuatu Agriculture College (VAC). The contract will be for 2 years following a 6-months probationary period. Duties and responsibilities:

1) Manage Agri-Business training division (ABTM) and all its allocated equipment and resources

2) Co-ordinate and manage all VAC training programs in consultation with the VAC principal and mentor’s committee

3) Develop VAC course timetables in consultation with the VAC principal and mentor’s committee

4) Manage all trainers and training providers on, campus according to the human resource management policies

5) Establish external networking systems for logistical management (with external training providers)

6) Work with the Vanuatu National Training Council (VNTC) on the accreditation of all VAC modules

7) Develop training material for the “train the trainers (TTT) course for all identified trainers delivering VAC modules

8) Deliver the TTT for all identified trainers who deliver the VAC modules

9) Co-ordinate the preparation for training materials, audio visual aids and classrooms for workshops and courses with the mentor’s committee

10) Report to the VAC management on training issues encountered before, during and after each training program

11) Develop a marketing strategy for marketing for all VAC modules throughout the Republic of Vanuatu.

- Five years experience as an agri-business trainer in an institution comparable to the VAC; Three year experience as a manager in an institution comparable to the VAC; Proven leadership skills in educational

- A high commitment to education of youth with a commensurate level of energy and enthusiasm; Be physically fit and have the ability and willingness to travel within and outside the republic of Vanuatu

- A master in agri-business or an equivalent degree; Demonstrated formal or continuing education in management, operational and strategic; Must established his or her record of good character through

references from former employers or other professionals.

4) Work closely with partners including other sectors, to develop applicable education materials on health education, safety and child protection, environmental protection and child rights messages, or other selected subjects

5) Ensure that school base infrastructure are constructed in accordance with the MOE building standard (facility standard)

6) Coordinate the education sector through guidance and communication with the NDMO and affected community (ies) to ensure assessment and response is timely, collaborative and needs of those affected

7) Ensure coordination with other education sector partners, including those who support education facilities, e.g. health, protection, water and sanitation

8) Carry out roles and responsibilities as outlined in the Education Cluster Coordinator ToR

9) There will be occasional travel to provinces in line with the training schedule of the EIE plan and as required.
