Job Description:
CARE is an international humanitarian and
development organisation fighting global poverty, with a vision to which
focuses on empowering women and girls to fight poverty and bring lasting change
to their communities. We work in over 80 countries around the world. We work
with partners to achieve lasting results for marginalized communities.
We are looking for a WASH Project Officers to
join our team based in Tanna, Tafea Province.
The Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH) Project
Officers will undertake field activities in Tafea province. The successful
candidates will have a proactive, results-oriented approach and experience
working within the water, sanitation and hygiene/health sector.
The posts will be responsible for the design,
implementation, follow up and evaluation of WASH activities in communities,
schools and health facilities targeted by CARE International.
Activities include:
- Installation of rainwater harvesting
- Rehabilitation
of Gravity Fed Water Systems
- Construction
of latrines and hand washing stations in schools and health centers
- Training community members in construction and
plumbing skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Assessments
- Program
design and implementation
- Monitoring,
Evaluation, Accountability and Learning
- Proactively promote
a safe and secure work environment; foster a culture of safety and security
awareness and consistently follow all CARE safety and security policies,
procedures and directives
- Demonstrate
an understanding of gender equality and women’s empowerment and a commitment to
CARE’s approach and values including ethnic diversity and cultural sensitivity
- Uphold and promote CARE’s commitment to Child
Protection

Criteria:
Required qualifications and skills:
- Health inspection, engineering, plumbing, construction or related
qualifications with strong experience
- Professional experience of at least 5 years, preferably in the field of
Water, Sanitation and Hygiene
- Organization, coordination and planning skills
- Problem solving skills
- Good computer skills
- Ability to listen and adapt
- Good personal skills
- Good knowledge of Bislama
- Good knowledge of oral and written English
