We are looking for a Logistic Officer to join our team based in Port Vila.
As a member of the CARE Vanuatu team, the Logistics Officer is responsible for ensuring that Care Logistics and Procurement function run efficiently, maintain updated inventory list in compliance with CARE’s policy and guidelines. The Logistics Officer is required to ensure that the operation process in the warehouse is an efficient and transparent manner and providing operational support to Logistics Coordinator. The role requires professionalism and attention to detail and an ability to work well with others across a team with regard to the following areas:
  • Supervise Logistics of Procurement Plans with Procurement Officer
  • Work collaboratively with Procurement team to ensure there is a clear communication of stocks information
  • Maintain good communication with field logistics team to make sure proper transportation takes place.
  • Assist Procurement Senior Officer on purchases.
  • Provide quick and smooth procurement support especially in emergencies
  • Work with requestor, Procurement team and Finance team to ensure the smooth transaction of goods and services
  • Maintain a register of supplier/transporter list.
  • Establish an inventory system to ensure the warehouse team is able to work in smooth operation
  • Make sure stocks are stored in a clean and good ventilated environment to prevent damage and are easily accessible.
  • Provide transport tracking sheet monthly.
  • Make sure stocktaking is done quarterly and spot check is done weekly
  • Ensure that all Stock Cards, Inventory, Stock Report Database are daily updated
  • Incoming, outgoing stocks and damage are recorded systematically
  • Maintain a good Logistical filing system

        Criteria:
        • Any graduate with Bachelor in a related technical area such as Business; Administration.
        • Minimum 2-3 year experience in similar Logistics role in an international organization.
        • Demonstrated good analytical skills, problem solving skills, interpersonal skills, sound judgment and planning.
        • Basic communication skills (both written and oral) in English and good communication skills (both written and oral)
        • Good time management skills and ability to undertake multiple tasks
        • Good Knowledge of computer skills (particularly Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point)
        • Demonstrated flexible approach and ability to work under pressure and to organize and manage workload to meet deadlines.
        • Willingness and capacity to travel out of Port Vila when required.
        • Valid Driver’s Licence

        The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Vanuatu in coordination with the Housing Working Group of the Public Work Department is implementing a project funded by the European Commission Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection Branch aiming at strengthening Ni-Vanuatu resilience through the upgrading of indigenous and locally developed construction techniques.

        Under the overall supervision of Shelter and Settlement Program Manager and the direct supervision of the Shelter Trainer Consultant, the successful candidate will be responsible of the implementation of shelter training and shelter awareness activities in TC Pam affected islands.

              • Support IOM/PWD shelter trainings in the TC Pam affected provinces
              • Assist the Shelter Trainer to conduct training and awareness campaigns on safer shelter construction techniques by reinforcing the four key messages of the Vanuatu Shelter Cluster
              • Assist the Shelter Trainer to conduct awareness and sensitization activities on vernacular construction techniques
              • Assist the Shelter Trainer and PWD officers in conducting training to relevant stakeholders as required for the implementation of programme activities
              • 5.Enhance community participation and engagement on vernacular constructions with a strong focus on women participation and gender mainstreaming
              • Document vernacular construction techniques used within the provinces producing a photographic catalogue of locally developed buildings
