In 2013/14 the New Zealand Government assisted the Government of
Vanuatu to develop a sector plan for tourism - the Vanuatu Strategic Tourism
Action Plan (VSTAP). This Plan was developed through broad consultation with
key stakeholders and recognises the significance of tourism to the economic
development of Vanuatu.
The New Zealand Aid Programme is providing support to
implement key components of the VSTAP, including funding to assist with the
establishment of a VSTAP Implementation Team. The New Zealand
Aid Programme, together with the Vanuatu Government now wishes to commence
recruitment of the key position of Team Leader (VSTAP) within the
Implementation Team.
With a focus on leading the implementation of the VSTAP and
managing the VSTAP team, the Team Leader's role will also be to improve the
coordination, communication and stakeholder engagement across the Vanuatu
tourism sector.
The Team Leader will be responsible for (among other things):
- Leading the implementation of the VSTAP
- General project management (including leading on development of
workplans and budgets and reporting progress against these, monitoring and
managing expenditure against plans, monitoring of risks)
- People management of the Implementation Team, including
recruitment and contract management
- Working with Vanuatu Government counterparts to support capacity
development assessments, plans and individual staff development
- Building and maintaining close and productive working
relationships across key senior executives across government, the private
sector, and stakeholders in the wider Tourism business and NGO community.
