Job Description:


Private Company requires a Land/geomatics surveyor to measure and collect data on specific areas of land, including information about boundaries, buildings and features, both natural and man-made.

Typical work activity can include:

  • Making use of geographical information systems (GIS) to analyse and interpret site features
  • Producing detailed information (subsequently analysed by planners, builders and cartographers)
  • Using a range of equipment to produce surveys, including GPS and conventional methods
  • Analysing information thoroughly before it is handed over to other professionals
  • Measuring the ground, including aspects such as small and large-scale distances, angles and elevations
  • Gathering data on the earth's physical and man-made features through surveys
  • Processing data
  • Undertaking digital mapping
  • Thinking creatively to resolve practical planning and development problems
  • Interpreting data using maps, charts and plans
  • Utilising data from a range of sources, such as aerial photography, satellite surveys and laser beam measuring systems
  • Using computer-aided design (CAD) and other IT software to interpret data and present information
  • Keeping up to date with new and emerging technology
  • Providing advice to a variety of clients.


Most importantly, you should have the confidence to be accountable to management and complete a job then lodge it successfully to the Lands Survey department for immediate results.
It is very important you know the laws of Vanuatu.
A good reputation and amicable personality with the capability to follow through and achieve milestones required for Title approvals will ensure you the right candidate.

        Qualification and Experience:
        • Bachelor of technology in surveying or diploma in surveying 
        • Computer skills in surveying programs
        • 0ne (1) - Two (2) years experience in the field as a surveyor

              A coastal management and climate change adaption project is seeking a Communications Assistant to work four hours a fortnight (either one morning or one afternoon a fortnight) to support communications activities for the project.

              Duties and responsibilities include:
              • Contacting field staff to request text/info for media releases 
              • Doing some editing of text to make good articles
              • Collecting photos from field staff and photographers for media releases
              • Maintaining the photo permissions records
              • Translating short written pieces from English into French and Bislama
              • Assisting with the logistics for events such as launches, workshops + stalls at open days 
              • Collecting quotes for printing
              • And other communications related tasks as needed. 
                    Criteria:
                    • Previous experience in writing and preparing materials for the media, including for radio media
                    • Excellent skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and photo management software
                    • Able to accurately translate into French and Bislama
                    • Experience in organising venue, catering, transport and other logistics for events / workshops desirable
