Job Description:

Youth Challenge Vanuatu is seeking for two interested candidates to undertake the position of the field staff at a voluntarily basis for a period of 3 – 4 months.

These positions are the key facilitators of Youth Challenge Vanuatu community projects. They provide leadership, timely decision making and facilitated the learning process for a team of youth participants. The person will liaise with the community leaders including all the beneficiaries of the project and will be responsible for the overall

implementation of the community development project goals, objectives and activities.

Below are the main roles and responsibilities for the field staffs before, during and after the project.

1) Coordinate the Implementation of the core community projects

2) Overseeing the implementation of Small Team Projects in accordance with the YCV Small Team Projects Guide

3) Coordinate the team of volunteers with their reports especially for the Small Team Projects and taking up leading role in writing up the big report to be submitted to YCV

4) Establishing a productive relationship / connection between host community members and the YCA/YCV group/s

5) Challenger team-building, training & orientation

6) Providing leadership, administrative, logistical and other support to Challenger team while in the field;

7) Understanding YCV policies and ensuring that challengers and GLs follow ALL YCV policies and immediately reporting any breaches of policy to the YCV office

8) Weekly phone communications with, and reports to, the YCV Project Manager or nominated staff member

9) Assist with volunteer logistics – arranging for group flights, accommodation, transport, etc

10) Assist with International Field Staff preparations (accommodation, transport, etc.)

11) Field Staff Training Assistance – booking space, trainers, arranging for refreshments etc

12) Orientation – logistics (booking venue, arranging transport, etc.)

13) Orientation – volunteer training, working with International field staff to arrange a training schedule for volunteer orientation and to assist during the volunteer Orientation

14) Assist with closure logistics and preparation

15) Assist with post-project monitoring and evaluation tasks

16) Assist with post-project logistics

17) Assist other YCV program managers as required.

- Good communication and Negotiation Skills; Good Leadership skills and have similar experience in that particular field

- Good understanding in English (Written and Spoken); Have basic understanding of community development settings

- Good organisational skills; Good report writing skills

4) Work with the Assistant Officer to continue the development of the association and implement its 2013 work plan.
