Job Desctiption:
The Pyrolysis Plant Operator will be responsible for the day-to-day operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the pyrolysis plant. This role requires a hands-on professional with a strong mechanical engineering background, including plumbing, electrical, and mechanical experience. The operator will ensure that the plant runs efficiently, safely, and in compliance with all regulatory and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Plant Operations & Process Control:
• Operate and monitor the Beston pyrolysis plant equipment to ensure optimal performance.
• Adjust process parameters as needed to maintain efficient pyrolysis conversion rates.
• Ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols.
• Record production data and adjust plant operations accordingly.
2. Mechanical & Electrical Maintenance:
• Conduct routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs of plant equipment.
• Perform troubleshooting on mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems to prevent unexpected downtime.
• Identify worn-out or faulty components and coordinate necessary repairs or replacements.
• Maintain fuel, water, and air pressure systems in proper working condition.
3. Troubleshooting & Problem-Solving:
• Diagnose and resolve technical issues that impact plant efficiency.
• Identify potential mechanical failures, leaks, or electrical faults and address them proactively.
• Assist with process optimization to improve fuel recovery and energy efficiency.
4. Safety & Compliance:
• Enforce strict health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Ensure compliance with Vanuatu's environmental protection laws and international industry standards.
• Monitor emissions and ensure proper handling of waste by-products such as carbon black and pyrolysis oil.
5. Installation & Commissioning Assistance:
• Assist with the setup and commissioning of the pyrolysis plant.
• Work alongside the supplier's technician during installation, ensuring all mechanical and electrical connections are properly integrated.
• Learn plant operations during commissioning and train additional team members as necessary.
Selection Criteria:
Qualifications & Experience:
Required:
• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with plumbing, electrical systems, and mechanical machinery.
• At least 3-5 years of experience in industrial plant operations, maintenance, or pyrolysis/chemical processing facilities.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, engineering schematics, and process flow diagrams.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues.
• Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and thermal processing systems.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure.
Preferred:
• Experience with waste-to-energy systems or fuel processing plants.
• Certification in boiler operation, industrial machinery, or plant safety compliance.
• Previous work in a chemical processing, refinery, or waste management facility.
• Welding and fabrication experience would be a plus.
