Position Overview:

Ocean Logistics Limited is seeking a highly skilled Marine Engineer (Class 3 International) to join our team and work onboard one of our tugboats operating in the South Pacific. This role is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the vessel's machinery and systems. The successful candidate will play a critical role in maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency response, ensuring compliance with international maritime regulations and company standards.

Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee the operation and maintenance of all main and auxiliary engines, generators, pumps, and mechanical systems onboard.
• Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs to minimize downtime and ensure vessel readiness.
• Monitor fuel, oil, cooling, and other fluid levels, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
• Maintain and troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, and fuel systems as required.
• Ensure that all machinery, tools, and spare parts are properly stored, maintained, and available for use.
• Conduct regular safety drills and emergency response training as per company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Keep accurate logbooks, maintenance records, and defect reports, ensuring compliance with classification society and flag state regulations.
• Work closely with the captain and deck crew to support safe and efficient vessel operations.
• Ensure all engineering operations meet ISM, SOLAS, and MARPOL compliance standards.
• Participate in dry-docking, refit, and repair operations when required.

 

Selection Criteria:

Qualifications & Skills:
• Class 3 International Marine Engineer Certificate (STCW III/3 or equivalent).
• Strong knowledge of marine diesel engines, hydraulics, and auxiliary systems.
• Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults under pressure.
• Familiarity with ISM Code, SOLAS, and MARPOL regulations.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
• Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a crew.
• Proficiency in report writing, maintenance logs, and compliance documentation.
• Understanding of shipboard safety procedures and emergency response protocols.

Preferred Experience:
• Minimum of 3–5 years of experience as a Marine Engineer on tugboats, workboats, or offshore vessels.
• Experience working in harbor towage, salvage, or offshore support operations.
• Previous experience with vessel dry-docking and refit projects is an advantage.
• Hands-on experience with engine overhauls, cooling systems, and fuel management.
• Experience operating in remote island or South Pacific maritime environments is a plus.
