Job Desctiption:

Key Responsibilities:
-Prepare costing for specific projects, based on receipt of competitive pricing requests and/or contract documentation. Costing and recommendations submitted for approval
-On receipt of instruction, assist the Resort Chief Engineers or Managers in all matters related to the implementation of an effective budget control
-In the event of disaster that involves insurance claims. Work with Fellow colleagues to prepare replacement costing schedule and if requested to attend meetings with insurers and associated parties.
-Ensure major items of infrastructure being, but not limited to, water supply, wastewater, electrical supply including back up generation, HVAC are operating to optimum performance and in accordance with relevant international accreditations where applicable. Ensure Resort chief Engineers, Maintenance managers and designated operators are fully conversant with the processes, operations and maintenance of such equipment.
-Ensure any new projects are implemented with compliance with the related engineering protocols and financial budgets.
-Train Resort Chief Engineers, Maintenance Managers in relevant aspects of the operation as requested
-Project manage specific projects that are beyond the normal duties and expertise of the Resort Chief Engineers and Maintenance Manager.
-On request, assist Resort Chief Engineers and Maintenance Manager in all cases of Operations
-Replace Resort Chief Engineers and Maintenance Manager in all cases of His/her absence from duty as directed.
-On request, supervise all Resort Chief Engineers for performance, quality of workmanship etc.
-In consultation with the Resort Chief Engineers or Managers, design and implement programs so as to safeguard machinery, equipment etc. belonging to the business.
-Ensure all safety regulations are being strictly observed in all WHR Pacific Resorts.
-Design, implement and monitor all energy conservation programs &/or procedures and report any irregularities and non-compliance to the respective Resort General Manager's, Regional General Manager and Senior Vice President.
-Check timely completion of maintenance requests.
-In Consultation with the Resort Chief Engineers or Managers, Design and/or implement Resort maintenance programs
-Report to the Senior Vice President any abnormal conditions noticed at any time threatening life safety related to equipment or installations
-On receipt of reports from designated officers to review and analyse correct functioning of fire alarm systems with completed documentation of regular maintenance of extinguishers (by independent accredited party, hydrants, hoses and other sundry equipment associated to fire protection
-Co-ordinate renovation and construction projects with the architects and engineering consultants, upon approval of the budget and conceptual designs
-Responsible for design and implementations of various engineering projects as agreed and approved by the Corporate office.
-Provide leadership to the Project Manager and Chief Engineers and Maintenance Supervisor on various projects
-Responsible for procurement of materials and FF&E for the engineering aspects for various projects
-Reporting to SVP, and any other executive as designated on regular basis on the progress of the projects
- Conduct training course for new chief Engineers and/or Managers and regular refresher courses for existing HOD's
-Assist the General Manager in building of an efficient team of HODs/Managers and taking an active interest in their welfare, safety, training and career development
-Ensure that correct standards of services and method are maintained as per policies
-If required, be part of the recruitment process, i.e. interview and hiring of new management staff in engineering.
-Assist supervise the orientation of New Managers/HOD's joining POMEC and ensuring that they fully understand their job description and the policies and procedures of the Resort as laid out in the Staff Handbook.
-Responsible to discipline and counsel staff as required by the Resort Policy and procedures guideline of HR and Training.
-Ensure POMEC Managers/HODs have a complete understanding of and adhere to the Resort's policies and procedures.
-Conduct on the job trainings for new Chief Engineers and/or Managers and regular refresher courses for existing HOD's

 

Selection Criteria:

Our ideal candidate:
-Qualification in Engineering or Science, or related field is preferred
-A minimum of 10 years' experience in facilities engineering and operations required
-5 years supervisory experience with demonstrated leadership of engineering teams required
-Strong attention to detail, accuracy, leadership and interpersonal skills
-Ability to work independently as well as an effective team member or leader
-Ability to organize, set priorities and motivate others
-Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
-Excellent organizational skills and Proven problem-solving skills
-Demonstrated understanding of HVAC concepts and controls is required
-Demonstrated understanding of Utility management and usage
-Demonstrated knowledge of National/Local codes and regulations required
-Strong communications and organizational skills. Ability to facilitate presentations preferred
-Travel between sites is required
- Presence in mechanical spaces and on construction sites is frequently required.
