Job Desctiption:
The Carpenter is responsible for maintaining the resort and its assets. This includes items such as furniture and stairs, making repairs to the internal wooden structure and ensuring a thorough presentable finish.
Selection Criteria:
Tasks and Responsibilities
• Address daily all reported villa problems and ensure they are fixed within the shortest time.
• Maintain doors, windows, decks and other items such as day bed, etc.
• Constructs, remodels, retrofit and repairs interior and exterior structures, cabinets, tables, chairs, partitions, benches and other type f furniture.
• Maintain and keep in working order all company tools which have been issue to carry the work.
• Reports any missing tools as soon as they are found to be missing.
• Paints or varnishes as required, furniture, walls, structures.
• Responds to routine and emergency calls for repairs.
• Understand and adhere to all company policies & procedures.
• Keep resort General Manager and all staff informed on all relevant matters which may affect the guest experience using any available methods of communication.
• Escalate or communicate to General Manager all problems which will affect the resort or the guest's experience due to termites, unsafe structure.
• Constantly seek out efficiencies to improve efficiency and profitability.
• Follow all company safety and security policies and procedures; report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to Foreman.
• Follow all company policies and procedures; ensure uniform and staff appearances are clean and professional; maintain confidentiality of proprietary information; protect company assets.
• Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards; anticipate and address guests' service needs; assist individuals with disabilities; thank guests with genuine appreciation.
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others.
• Comply with quality assurance expectations and standards.
• Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Management.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Job Qualifications:
• Minimum of 3 year experience in a similar position.
• Trade certificate or equivalent.
• Excellent communication skills in English and/or French (oral and written). Bislama is a must.
• Good knowledge of Health and Safety and Health and Hygiene protocols.
• Highly motivated and passionate about the job and his/her career in the resort.
• Ability to meet and deal tactfully and courteously with fellow employees, guests and contractors.
• Ability to perform various clean-up and maintenance tasks as needed.
• Ability to update inventories and other supplies as needed.
