BRED (Vanuatu) Limited is part of the second largest banking group in France, "Banque Populaire", which also has regional outlets in New Caledonia, Tahiti, Vanuatu, Fiji and Solomon Islands. With an established presence across retail, commercial and corporate banking, an opportunity is available for a suitably experienced and qualified BUSINESS ANALYST to be based in Port Vila. Reporting to Head – Business Banking, this role is established to provide effective support to the Relationship Manager (RM) by analyzing, completing and recommending credit proposals for client portfolio; and generally assisting the RM as needed to meet the risk profile of the Bank, minimize Non-Performing Loans (NPLs) and maximize profitability.
Selection Criteria:
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
• Client meetings and collating information to support loan applications (new and reviews);
• Conferring and verifying with customers on any details associated with their loan applications;
• Developing and executing relationship development strategies by identifying opportunities for new customers and improving the profitability of existing relationships (i.e. cross selling) within set target markets and achieving the targets whilst complying with all Bank credit policies and procedures;
• Assessing, analyzing and evaluating financial data, forecasts, financial transactions and credit history;
• Write-ups to support credit application by making recommendation of risk and security ratings and evaluating profitability, repayment (sources), covenants, collateral and structural risk;
• Completing business credit proposals and recommending loans for approved based on a balanced risk assessment;
• Engage in improving policies, processes and procedures within the Business Banking Department; including raising issues which need attention and make recommendation(s) for solutions to minimize error and risk.
Required Competencies:
• Tertiary qualification – At least Tertiary Diploma Qualification in Business, Banking & Finance, Accounting or a related field from a credible and international recognized tertiary institution;
• Experience – minimum of 2+ years of credit and/or business banking experience in business banking and/or credit functions within a banking or financial environment
• Professional/specialist knowledge – Understanding of credit, business finance, risk management and some knowledge in Commercial Law concepts is essential
• Essential Attributes & Competencies – High degree of client service and administrative skills, knowledgeable in Microsoft Office programs such as Outlook, Word and Excel, can work under pressure to meet deadlines and being bi-lingual is an advantage.
