Job Desctiption:
Abt Associates has an opportunity available in the IPM team in Vanuatu for a Public Health Officer. This position is full time until April 2023, with the possibility of extension to November 2023.
The Public Health Officer will implement the project at the national level and support the Ministry of Health, Public Health Directorate, reporting primarily to the Project Director and project focal point, Director of Public Health and IPM Team Leader. The officer will perform a variety of implementation, monitoring, technical and administrative services in support of program activities. The officer, with guidance from the Public Health Unit, will lead the national level implementation after the international expert's contract has ended to support transition to Ministry of Health organisational structure and sustainability of outcomes.
This officer will comply with the Public Service Staff Manual, Abt Associates and ADB policies on gender, disability, fraud and anti-corruption, HIV and AIDS, child protection and the environment.
Selection Criteria:
• Medical, or nursing and/or public health diploma or equivalent experience
• 5-8 years of experience working in a public health related field with a strong understanding of the maternal and child health and immunization programs
• Experience in dealing with large budgets, strategic and business plans
• Experience in immunization is preferable
• Fluent in Bislama and English and good command of French
• Flexible to provide ad hoc advisory support to the National MoH Executive
• Applicants who have been a public service employee within the past 12 months are not eligible for this position
