Organisation Description:
World Vision Vanuatu is a Christian humanitarian organization dedicated to working with children, families and communities to overcome poverty and injustice. Since 1981, we have been working to transform communities through delivering programming in education, health care, water, agriculture and sustainable livelihoods.
World Vision Vanuatu currently delivers programs in four of Vanuatu's six provinces: Shefa, Sanma, Torba and Tafea. These programs address resilient livelihoods which includes agricultural and economic development, waste management and disaster risk reduction; inclusive WASH which integrates water, sanitation, health and nutrition; and gender equality which focuses on positive family relationships and the elimination of gender-based violence.
Job Desctiption:
The purpose of this position is to facilitate the Wai Nui project in Tanna contributing to the achievement of the Inclusive WASH portfolio by:
Implementing project activities according to the project design with a focus on ensuring the community has a strong understanding of and plays a strong role in achieving program outcomes.
Build and maintain effective partnerships with key stakeholders such as community members, community leaders and church groups.
Carry out ongoing monitoring of project activities and make recommendations for improvement where appropriate.
Selection Criteria:
The ideal candidate must have:
- Year 12 or 13 school leaver or higher or equivalent experience.
- At least 1-2 years' experience working with individuals and groups in communities or similar.
- Understanding of facilitation or training principles.
- Working knowledge of Water & Sanitation, Health, Gender.
- Knowledge of local Vanuatu communities and local culture.
- Well-developed communication skills and the ability to communicate with people at different
levels from different backgrounds.
- Well-developed organisational and planning skills.
- Able to follow instructions but self-motivated enough to be able to complete tasks without
constant supervision.
- Positive, can-do attitude, hard-worker, polite, friendly.
- Well-developed confidence to interact with a range of different people.
- Sound computer skills (Word & Excel & able to use email).
- Able to speak one local dialect & Bislama & English.
- Able to drive & holds a current driver's licence
