The Head Chef we are looking for must be creative and proficient in food preparation and able to maintain complete control of the kitchen.
JOB DESCRIPTION
• Plan and direct food preparation and culinary activities.
• Keep food cost in check: control portion sizes, purchasing quantities, food wastage.
• Modify menus or create new ones that meet top quality standards.
• Costing of menus.
• Maintain consistency of menu items in presentation, quality, serving size.
• Initiate procedures and systems to eliminate pilferage.
• Recruit, train, manage and roster kitchen staff;
• Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards.
• Arrange for equipment purchases and repairs.
• Rectify arising problems or complaints from customers.
• Perform administrative duties.
• Maintain a positive and professional approach with co-workers and customers.
REQUIREMENTS
• Proven working experience as Head Chef in a resort or restaurant.
• Excellent record of kitchen management.
• Able to spot and resolve problems efficiently.
• Capable of multi-tasking.
• Have excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Keep up with cooking trends and best practices.
• Have working knowledge of various computer software programs (MS Office, restaurant management software, POS).
• Qualifications in professional cookery or culinary arts preferred.
Selection Criteria:
Must have excellent command of English language.
Must have previous experience as Head Chef in a busy restaurant.
Qualifications in professional cookery or culinary arts preferred.
Salary:
According to experience.
