The Vanuatu Red Cross Society, is seeking applications from dynamic and highly motivated persons to immediately fill up the following position.
Job Desctiption:
Purpose of the job
The Branch Officer ensures the smooth running of the branch. They have responsibilities for management and programs.
• Management responsibilities include working with the branch board to do local fundraising, recruit members, and manage branch finances, property and other resources.
• Program responsibilities include coordinating branch disaster risk reduction, preparedness, response and recovery activities; managing local first aid programmes; dissemination about Red Cross, and any branch activities. To carry out programs and activities the Branch Officer will recruit, train and monitor volunteers.
The OD Coordinator at National Headquarters is the manager of the Branch Officer, which means they manage all Human Resources matters and monitor achievement of the branch annual plans and budgets.
The Branch Officer has a technical reporting line to coordinators at National Headquarters (NHQ) who lead Disaster Management, Health and Dissemination programs.
The Branch Officer works closely with the Branch President. They coordinate their plans and keep each other well informed of progress and any problems. Together they ensure effective working relations with provincial government and community stakeholders.

Qualifications and personal qualities required
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Able to work well under pressure
• Well organised
• Able to work with minimal supervision
• Honest / works with integrity
• Completed secondary school year 10 or higher
• Current driver's licence with clean driving record
• Valid, clean police check
Knowledge & skills required
• Experience in managing projects/programmes, including working within budgets and managing finances
• Problem solving skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, Bislama and French
• Strong computer skills (Word and Excel/Database)
• Knowledge of the Red Cross movement will be an advantage
• Reporting Skills
