Job Description
Are you young and ambitious?
Café Vila at Nasama Resort is looking for a talented and experienced Sous Chef who we can train to become our Executive Chef.
We need someone creative and proficient in all aspects of food preparation with the ability to maintain complete control of the kitchen. The main focus will be on cost control and reduction of waste.
RESPONSIBILITIES
o Plan and direct food preparation and culinary activities.
o Keep food cost in check: control portion sizes, purchasing quantities, food wastage.
o Modify menus or create new ones that meet top quality standards.
o Maintain consistency of menu items in presentation, quality, serving size.
o Initiate procedures and systems to eliminate pilferage.
o Recruit and manage kitchen staff; set clear and consistent expectations from kitchen staff; improve and maintain employee attendance; ensure company policy is followed; keep time and payroll records; improve employee productivity; reduce absenteeism.
o Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards.
o Arrange for equipment purchases and repairs.
o Rectify arising problems or complaints from customers.
o Perform administrative duties.
o Maintain a positive and professional approach with co-workers and customers.

Selection Criteria
REQUIREMENTS
o Proven working experience as a Sous Chef or Head Chef in  a Resort or restaurant.
o Excellent record of kitchen management.
o Able to spot and resolve problems efficiently.
o Capable of multi-tasking.
o Have excellent communication and leadership skills.
o Keep up with cooking trends and best practices.
o Have working knowledge of various computer software programs (MS Office, restaurant management software, POS).
o BS degree in Culinary science or related certificates.
