Organisation Description
Building upon the foundation work undertaken during 2016/17, the New Zealand Government in collaboration with the Government of Vanuatu is initiating a range of supports to the Vanuatu Beef Cattle Industry. The Beef Cattle industry has met challenges in recent years and the MALFFB and MTTC&I - with support from the New Zealand Government - is now working to rebuild the Beef Cattle industry prosperity and realise its potential contribution to the greater economic and social well-being of Vanuatu.

Implemented by No. 8 Gauge Ltd, the Project – ‘Nambawan Buluk’ - has now established an office in Luganville, Espiritu Santo for the purpose of managing the proposed supporting activities for this Stage 2. 

Needed is the key position of ‘Project Manager’ to drive the Nambawan Buluk Project’s activities.

Job Description
Project Manager tasks:
o To manage and be accountable for the delivery of the work streams in-country around each of the Project’s nine (9) Outputs in the Stage 2 design document;

o To ensure productive working relationships with the Project’s in-country partners and visiting NZ-based partners to the Project where especially a strong focus on one-on-one dealings with beef cattle farmers is needed;

o To provide in-country input into the quarterly reporting to the Project’s key partners (Govt of Vanuatu, beef cattle farmers, the wider beef cattle industry and NZ Government);

o To manage the expenditures of the Project in-country and report on same; and

o To provide good management of the Project’s in-country personnel.

Selection Criteria
Person requirements:
‘Must have’:
*  Some exposure to the management of projects.

*  An Agriculture-related or Management Degree or have equivalent years of experience.

*  Been involved in the written reporting on project activities.

*  Some familiarity with project expenses and their management.

*  An ability to write and speak fluently in both English and Bislama - and must therefore be Ni-van.

*  Computer skills in MS Office.

*  A current drivers licence.

‘Highly desirable’:
*  While a knowledge of the beef cattle industry is not critical, some familiarity would be regarded as highly desirable.

*  Have worked with farmers though not necessarily beef cattle farmers.

*  Have made presentations to groups.

Salary
Salary is negotiable and will be discussed with shortlisted applicants.
