The Vanuatu Cricket Association (VCA) is the
national governing body for the game of cricket in Vanuatu and one of the country’s
leading sporting
organisations. The association is now welcoming applications for
the position of Women’s Cricket Development Officer based in the nation’s
capital, Port Vila.
The Women’s Cricket Development Officer will foster
women’s cricket development by working with the VCA development team and the
women’s cricket department to promote female participation in cricket. Their
role will be to ensure the cricket infrastructure (schools, clubs, development
officers, cricket ambassadors, coaches, volunteers, administrators, local and
national government bodies) creates positive cricket experiences for all female
participants and women’s cricket in Vanuatu prospers with sustainable
participation growth.
Responsibilities
- Reports to the Women’s Cricket Manager
- Work with the General Manager, High Performance
Manager, Administration Officer, Development Officers, and other relevant
Vanuatu Cricket staff to plan womens competitions for the new year
- Organise and facilitate all womens senior competitions;
as an official, with team warm ups and ground set up, as appointed by Vanuatu
Cricket including Womens Club Cricket
- Organise and facilitate all girls junior
competitions; as an official, with team warm ups and ground set up, as
appointed by Vanuatu Cricket
- Enter of all scorecards into CricHQ after the
completion of each round match
- Ensure that grounds are marked, stumps/bails,
scorebooks, stationery, scoreboards and balls are organised prior to
competition
- Ensure that there is cricket gear available at each
ground prior to competition
- Liaise
with CUAV and the Training & Education Officer to ensure that there are
umpires and scorers rostered on for each match of competitions
- Liaise
with women’s cricket clubs in Port Vila to ensure they understand where and
when their matches will be held and all other relevant information
- Assist clubs with team trainings prior to
competitions
- Assist
Cricket Development Officers in planning, organising and facilitating school
programs
- Assist
the Training and Education Officer in training women in umpiring, scoring and
coaching
- Work
with the High Performance Coach in identifying talented girls from schools in
Port Vila
- Work
with the Development manager assisting in planning and facilitating regional
cricket competitions
- Assist
the Women’s Cricket Manager with writing regular press releases
- Work
with the competitions coordinator to enter scorecards from competitions into
CricHQ
- Plan
and facilitate community programs targeting female participation including
additional training for talented cricketers and Cricket i Blong Evriwan
- Assist
girls from schools in finding a club team
- Carry
out promotion activities with/for Vanuatu Cricket sponsors
- Assist the
Development Supervisor and Vanuatu Cricket as required.
Criteria:
- Experience in coaching cricketers
- A sound knowledge and understanding of cricket, the
rules and its culture
- The ability to communicate effectively at all
levels
- The ability to establish and maintain effective
working relationships
- The ability to teach and interact with people of
all ages
- The ability to work to deadlines, maintain a
flexible approach and contribute to a team environment
- The ability to assist in the development and
implementation of operational strategies
- Intermediate computer knowledge
- Be committed to working with and helping children,
women, the disabled and all other new cricket participants
- Be able to write schedules that do not clash with
other activities
- Be able to roster Vanuatu Cricket Development staff
to tasks
- Be able to communicate rosters and schedules to
everyone involved
- Be prepared to talk with other Vanuatu Cricket
staff about new ideas and what Vanuatu Cricket is doing
- Be prepared to be a role model for all cricket
players and Vanuatu Cricket Rostered Development Officers
- Ability to uphold the Spirit of Cricket
- Ability to uphold the ICC and VCA Code of Conduct
- Ability to adhere to
the Anti-Racism, Anti-Doping, Anti-Corruption and Child Protection Policies of
the VCA and ICC.
