The
Vanuatu Strategic Tourism Action Plan (VSTAP) Implementation Unit partners with
the Department of Tourism (DoT), the Vanuatu Tourism Office and other agencies
and stakeholders to implement a wide array of projects and programs to meet the Government of Vanuatu’s development objectives for the
tourism sector.
The
VSTAP Implementation Unit is now seeking the services of a Technical Advisor
(TA) to assist the DoT with the development of a National Sustainable Tourism
Development (NSTD) Policy. It is expected that this will provide the framework to support a future
Sustainable Tourism Strategy and Action Plan.
Criteria:
Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Formal qualifications in tourism, with an in-depth understanding and working knowledge of global best practice in sustainable development policies, planning, management and capacity-building
- Practical experience with developing and implementing strategic sustainable development projects, policies and plans, particularly within the Pacific region
- Practical experience working with stakeholders in the private, public and community sectors
- A practical and supportive approach to discussing issues that is appropriate to Vanuatu tourism development and its Melanesian culture
- Previous project management experience, including financial management, co-ordination of project team members, organising stakeholder meetings and workshops, production of high quality reports, high level mentoring skills and client communication
- Previous experience and understanding of the Government of Vanuatu agencies and their operational processes and procedures, would be an advantage
- A demonstrated track record of successfully delivering sustainable development projects and programs.
