We are looking for an Officer to join our Gender
Equality Team in the position of Eliminating Violence
Against Women and Girls [EVAWG]. The role is to support CARE Vanuatu’s Eliminating
Violence Against Women and Girls [EVAWG] work in TAFEA province. As part of
CARE Vanuatu’s Gender Equality Program, CARE has the support of the Australian
Aid Program to implement a four year project, Leftemap Sista II with the goal: ‘To support able bodied and
disabled women, young women and girls in rural and remote areas in TAFEA to
realise their rights to live free from violence, have increased economic
opportunity and capacity to participate meaningfully in decisions that affect
their lives in peace time and disaster’. The EVAWG Officer will be responsible
for supporting activities under two outcome areas: to promote leadership skills
and opportunities of women and girls;and to reduce tolerance for VAWG and
increase access to survivor centred services.
The position is based in Tanna with regular
travel to field sites in Tanna and Tafea outer Islands.
Your major responsibilities will be varied and will include:
- Ensure the effective and efficient implementation
of EVAWG activities according to the activity plan and budget, including
preparation of detailed budget requests for each field trip and activities
- Mobilise communities and facilitate trainings and
activity on EVAWG, and facilitate technical trainings to be provided by project
partners
- Ensure good relationships with communities and
local authorities and partner organisations
- Monitoring and Reporting.

Criteria:
Required qualifications and skills:
- Minimum technical diploma and/or vocational
training in community development, gender or health and/or minimum 2-3 years
relevant work experience, preferably in community based violence prevention and
response work and/or activity implementation with an International
Non-Government Organisation (INGO)
- Good understanding of EVAWG including prevention
approaches and response (services and referral Excellent communication and
facilitation skills in Bislama and good in English
- Ability to analyse intricate information and
produce concise and accurate reports
- Demonstrated high level organisational and time
management skills, including the ability to plan and manage workflows and
balance competing priorities to ensure timely processing to meet deadlines in a
complex environment
- Demonstrated ability to take direction and to work
as part of a team
- Demonstrated experience in following standard
policies, procedures and processes
- A willingness to learn about CARE, gender equality
and women’s empowerment activities
- Proven ability in
managing a budget and/or cash; and
- Intermediate (very good) in Microsoft
Office with knowledge in Microsoft Word and Excel.
