Job Description:

In order to speed up the translation, into French and Bislama, of documents that keep on piling up awaiting translation, the Language Services Department (LSD) under the Ministry of the Prime Minister wishes to recruit, under contract for a period of six (6) months (renewable), two persons qualified and competent enough for the following positions: Post Number Job Title Salary Scale Annual Salary Location Translator/Reviser French/Bislama HOs 4.0 1,411,200 VUV Port Vila Translator/Reviser French/Bislama HOs 4.0 1,411,200 VUV Port Vila Criteria: Candidates will be selected using the following selection criteria: Qualification: Diploma or degree Special Business Education: Language, law or other related areas Experience: Minimum 3-5 years working experience in the use of languages (English, French and Bislama), in the understanding and drafting of text, in translation or in other related areas Knowledge, Capacity and Skills: Good knowledge of English and French grammar rules Able to construct logical sentences Able to write logical and understandable texts Able to understand very well English and French texts Skills in English and French texts analysis Skills in undertaking further research Able to translate a text from English to French and Bislama Computer skills Special skills: Able to undertake research in dictionaries, encyclopedias, official gazettes and other sources available in a library Able to undertake research in the Internet Skills in proofreading and revising texts written by other officers Able to follow instructions and to meet datelines Able to take good decisions Skills in time and work management Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Very good reading, writing and verbal communication skills. Team work Behavioral Competencies: Committed, punctual, honest, confident, reliable and professional Languages: Good command of English, French and Bislama compulsory.
