We
are looking for a Participatory Health and Sanitation Transformation [PHAST]
Officer Background to join our team based in Tanna with possible travel required to other sites.
Your major responsibilities will be varied and will
include:
- The implementation of all hygiene promotion
activities of CARE International in Vanuatu’s WASH program
- Undertaking Participatory Hygiene and Sanitation
Transformation [PHAST] activities with communities, including supporting
community volunteer Hygiene promoters to facilitate the development and
implementation of their outreach plans to improve hygiene and sanitation
behavior
- Develop and disseminate hygiene promotion messages
through participatory, interactive activities with communities in coordination
with non-food item distributions and other WASH program activities.

Criteria:
Required qualifications and skills:
- Minimum
technical diploma and/or vocational training in public health, health or
hygiene promotion, community development, and/or minimum 2-3 years relevant
work experience, preferably in community development, health, WASH, in
community mobilisation with an International Non-Government Organisation (INGO)
- Excellent
communication, facilitation and training skills in Bislama and good in English
- Demonstrated
awareness and sensitivity to the particular needs of women and other
marginalised people in WASH
- Ability
to analyse intricate information and communicate/report on findings
- Demonstrated
high level organisational and time management skills, including the ability to
plan and manage workflows and balance competing priorities to ensure timely
processing to meet deadlines in a complex environment
- Demonstrated
ability to take direction and to work as part of a team
- Demonstrated
experience in following international standards (e.g. SPHERE), policies,
procedures and processes
- A
willingness to learn about CARE, gender equality and women’s empowerment
activities
- Proven ability in managing a budget and/or
cash
- Intermediate
(very good) in Microsoft Office with knowledge in Microsoft Word and Excel and
intermediate numeric skills.
