The Disability Promotion & Advocacy Association
(DPA) is seeking applications for a dynamic and highly motivated person to
immediately fill the position of Communications Officer to join its team in
Luganville, Santo.
The successful candidate will collaborate with the
National Coordinator, and Coordinating Committee to develop communications
strategies that will broaden organizational reach and deepen awareness of
disability inclusion across Vanuatu.
The Disability Promotion & Advocacy Association (DPA) is a national
umbrella body for Disabled Peoples Organizations (DPOs) in Vanuatu. It is led
and managed by persons with disabilities in the country. The main purpose of
the DPA Vanuatu is to advocate for the rights and promote the abilities of
persons with disabilities.
All DPA staff must agree to and sign the Child
Protection Policy and Code of Conduct as well as agreeing to a police
clearance. This is a condition of employment.
Criteria:
Qualifications and profile required:
- University degree in a related field
- Communications experience with a blend of advocacy and media relations an
advantage
- A track record of positioning an organization to achieve tangible outcomes in a
competitive communications environment.
Knowledge & skills:
- Excellent writing skills (English and Bislama)
- Knowledge of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities
- Knowledge of current community challenges and opportunities relating to the
mission of the organization
- Knowledge of project management
- Sound computing skills
- Strong sense of responsibility and control
- Well presented and personable.
