On behalf of our client, we are seeking a suitable
candidate to fill the position of Program Officer for Melanesia to be based
here in Port Vila.
Criteria:
Position requirements are:
- A graduate degree in an environmental or social science field, along with
knowledge of bio-cultural diversity, stewardship, landscape, resilience, and
indigenous peoples
- Superior written and oral communication skills in English, an ability to work
in Tok Pisin and/or other relevant lingua francas like Bahasa or Motu
- Experience in budgeting and financial statement analysis
- Well-organized, self-sufficient, and IT-savvy (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite and
web-based applications including grantmaking systems)
- Ability to travel as required by the job description
- Demonstrated ability to take on multiple roles and effectively manage complex,
evolving work environments
- Able to manage multiple projects and resources
simultaneously, internally and externally, as well as personally
- Able to
manage time and work under pressure
- Demonstrated commitment to the visions and struggles of local communities in
Melanesia to maintain their cultural integrity and environmental heritage
- Prior employment in an international grant making foundation and an
understanding of best practices associated with US private foundations highly
preferred.
