The Ceremonies and Cultural Manager is responsible for ensuring that the
key ceremonial elements as outlined in the Host Contract and PGC Charter are
carried out. Also key to the role is to ensure that the Games cultural and
ceremonies programs demonstrate the richness of the Vanuatu people and the
heritage of the country. The 2017 Pacific Games must represent a balance
between sport, protocol and culture.
Specific Responsibilities
- Ensure the planning and delivery of an opening and closing ceremony.
This will be done through the appointment and management of delivery
agents/contractors
- Management of a cultural advisory group that represent the cultural
diversity and people of these islands
- Plan with Sport the medal ceremonies that must have the combination of sport
protocol and Pacific Games protocol and a unique Vanuatu influence
- Planning and delivery of a daily cultural program consisting of local and
international entertainers from different genres/mediums to present at
"Festival Stages"
- Planning and delivery of welcoming and flag raising ceremonies at the Athletes
Village
- Planning and delivery of Live Sites program throughout Vanuatu.
Criteria:
Experience
- 10+ years of senior experience producing, or managing festivals or ceremonies
with demonstrated skills in project management, budgeting, and resource
management
- Must have demonstrable skills/experience and understanding of the cultural
mosaic of Vanuatu
- Must be a self-starter
- Position requires a full commitment to the project as extensive and intense
work will be required to deliver this scope
- Fluent (written and oral) in Bislama, French and English.
