The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) with assistance from the Vanuatu Coastal Adaptation Project (VCAP) is seeking to hire a locally based consultant to develop and produce the Vanuatu National Fruit and Vegetable Strategy.
The consultancy is for a period of three (3) months commencing August 2016. During this period the consultant is expected to hold consultations with all the relevant stakeholders of the fruits and vegetables sector, collate all discussion outcomes and formulate a National Fruit and Vegetable Strategy based on the policy directives and strategies stipulated in the National Agriculture Sector Policy.
The key tasks that the consultant will engage in are outlined below:
- Conduct a literature review on Fruits and Vegetables development in Vanuatu and the region
- Identify all the stakeholders of Fruits and Vegetables within the Value chain of these crops and the roles and responsibilities of each stakeholders within the value chain of these crops to ensure full implementation of the policy objective and directives
- Collate and present the roles, responsibilities, costs and datelines of the strategies and present them to the stakeholders in a small workshop to seek validation and endorsement
- Present the Draft National fruit and vegetable strategy to DARD for validation and finalise the National Fruit and Vegetable Sector Strategy and represent to DARD
- Assist DARD prepare a Council of Ministers paper for endorsement and validation of the Strategy.
