World
Vision Vanuatu is a development organisation that works to transform
communities. Over the past 35 years - working to the development priorities of
the Vanuatu Government - World Vision Vanuatu has worked in partnership with
communities to deliver critical services in health, education, humanitarian
emergency, water and sanitation, gender and rural livelihoods.
World
Vision has been working in partnership with the Vanuatu Ministry of Education
and Training, the Australian Government through DFAT and the New Zealand
Government through MFAT to "Strengthen Early Childhood Care and Education"
(SECCE) in Vanuatu. The program focuses on three provinces: Torba,
Malampa and Shefa. It is currently a 3 year project which commence 1
January 2014 and ends 31 January 2017.
We are recruiting for the position of SECCE
Coordinator for "Strengthening Early Childhood Care and Education
Project" - This position will report to the SECCE Program Manager, the
role will be based in Vanua Lava (with possible travel to Ureparapara).
In line with the WV Vanuatu's For Children, For Change, For Life (4C4C4L) purpose:
The key functions of this role are to:
- Work closely with 8 kindergartens (including teachers, committees and communities) on Vanua Lava to improve access to, and quality of Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) teaching
- Train and mentor teachers to deliver quality teaching to children in the Classroom
- Collaborate with the SECCE Community Coordinator to build understanding and support for ECCE within local communities
- Build strong relationships with other Education Stakeholders including the Provincial Government
- Provide high quality field monitoring information to the SECCE Programme Manager (including monthly reporting, budget acquittals and formal observations).

Criteria:
The ideal candidate should be:
- Physically fit
- Able to be away from home for up to 3 weeks of each month travelling to kindergartens
- Passionate about ECCE
- Experience as a kindergarten teacher and understanding of the MoET ECCE policy
- Experience with written reporting, including budget preparation and acquittals
- Ability to work creatively and effectively with a wide range of different people
- Strong planning and organisational skills and ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks
- Able to work gracefully under pressure and in situations of uncertainty
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Able to communicate effectively in English and Bislama.
