Job Description:
Vanuatu
Christian Council is seeking a competent and experienced writer to produce
training materials in support of their Food Security Project. Previous
experience in food security or agriculture is an advantage, but not essential –
what is needed is an experienced writer who can work with the Food Security
Technical Adviser to take the existing factual material and prepare written
training materials and session plans.
The
writer will be expected to review existing factual text and consultation
findings, interview the food security team for their instructions on content,
structure, and style, and then draft training session plans and resources for
training participants. Basic layout in Word or Publisher will also be required,
using an existing template.
The
contract is envisaged to be completed in July to August 2016, for completion of
final version in late August. Contract period is up to 20 days to be utilised
over 8 weeks, with the bulk of days (3-4 days a week) to be completed between
13 Jul to 5 August. The contractor can work from their own premises or from
VCC, and will attend briefings at VCC.

Criteria:
The
writer must have previous experience in:
- Working
from bullet point notes and briefings to produce good quality written
materials
- Preparing
training materials, including session plans and resources for workshops
- Structuring
written materials so sections or chapters follow a logical and easy-to-use
order
- Using Word or
Publisher to provide simple layout of text and tables and to insert scanned
illustrations
- The
writer must be fluent in written and spoken English and Bislama.
Personal Qualities:
- The
writer must be reliable, and be able to meet tight deadlines
- The
writer must be a good listener, to accurately prepare materials in-line with
the Food Security team's needs and expectations
- The
writer must work well in a team, and collaborate closely with Food Security
team members.
Equipment
needed:
- The
writer must provide their own laptop for this task.
Visa
Requirements:
- Ni-Vanuatu
citizens or Vanuatu Residents holding a current work permit are encouraged to
apply.
