Job Description:
CARE is an international humanitarian and development organization fighting global poverty, with a vision to which focuses on empowering women and girls to fight poverty and bring lasting change to their communities. We work in over 80 countries around the world. We work with partners to achieve lasting results for marginalized communities.
We are looking for a Driver to join our team based in Tanna, Tafea Province.
The position shall be responsible for safe transportation of CARE staff and material and up-keep of the assigned vehicle. The ideal candidate will have a certificate in auto mechanics and two to three years relevant work experience. Ability to drive a four-wheel drive vehicle in difficult road conditions and to manage vehicle and passenger safety is essential.


Criteria: 
  • Valid Vanuatu Driving Licence 
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience as a driver for NGO’s, Government departments or the private sector (NGO experience will be well regarded) 
  • Mechanical Knowledge: Experience and knowledge in checking oil, fuel, water, tires, brakes and other electrical systems before, during, and after journey. 
  • Four-wheel driving experience: Experience in driving heavy loads in sometimes difficult conditions on slippery, poorly maintained roads and experience in recovery once stuck or bogged 
  • Punctual, proactive and a good communicator 
  • Oral fluency in Bislama and Tanna local languages with Basic English 
  • Must be Tanna based
