Job Description:
The URA was established under the Utilities Regulatory Authority Act No. 11 of 2007. The Authority acts independently of the Government and its primary purpose is to increase access to safe, reliable and affordable electricity and water services, and to promote the long-term interests of consumers throughout Vanuatu. In addition, the Authority assists to resolve consumer complaints and disputes and advises the Government on matters related to electricity and water. It also reviews tariffs under the rules of the Concessions Agreements and relevant legislation.
The URA is seeking to engage an
individual to a Consultant position of Senior Economist will be hired on a
permanent basis with a six (6) months probationary period.

Criteria:
Successful candidates must meet the
following minimum requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in economics or business
management from a recognized institution
- 3 years of relevant professional experience
in an analytical role in a business, Government or Non-Government organization
where the candidate has proven his/her capabilities in economic analysis
- Demonstrated team skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word
and PowerPoint
- Excellent oral and written
communication skills. Fluency in written and spoken English and Bislama is a
requirement. A working knowledge of French is an advantage.

Candidates with advanced degree, higher levels of experience and analytical skills will be given preference and suitable compensation.
