Job Description:
Airports Vanuatu Limited (AVL) wishes to recruit a highly motivated person to become General Manager Aviation Security (GM AVSEC) at Bauerfield International Airport in Port Vila, Vanuatu.

The General Manager AVSEC is responsible to the Chief Executive Officer for the overall co-ordination of all Aviation Security (AVSEC) Services.

The GM AVSEC is responsible:

 i) To the CEO for the security operations of the three International gateway airports at Port Vila/Bauerfield, Santo/Pekoa and Tana/Whitegrass as required by the appropriate ICAO standards, Aviation Security Act 2007, Civil Aviation Act No. 16 of 1999 and CAR, to ensure a safe and secure operation of aircraft, pasengers and freight through the airports, delivering a high standard of service to the travelling public and all airport users, 24 hours per day/7days per week.

 ii) Ensuring that an appropriate service level is provided in the AVSEC department in respect of
  • Conformance with aviation security standards and procedures for the safe and secure operation of air services
  • Security of all airport property including tenants and airport users property
  • Safety and security of airport users and airport staff - shall ensure consistent compliance with AVSEC regulations as promulgated by the Civil Aviation Authority of Vanuatu (CAAV) - Civil Aviation Act No.16 of 1999, Aviation Security Act 2007, CAP Part 140, National Civil Aviation Security Programme (NCASP), AVL Airport Security Programme (ASP) and ICAO Annex 17 Security and other regulations required by industry bodies such as IATA and overseas security bodies in countries serviced by air services form Vanuatu. These shall include the following services and activities:
               - Passenger and baggage screening
               - Cargo Screening
               - Prevention of interference to aircraft, baggage or passenger
               - Access control to secured areas and 
               - Responses to threads or breaches of security.

The successful applicant must be a team player, able to manage in a rapidly changing environment and be able to command the respect of the staff under their control.

        Criteria:
        • Applications are invited from candidates with relevant aviation technical qualification relating to aviation security or relevant Managerial qualification, 5 or more years experience in the field of aviation security operations with 4 years of Senior Management level, strong leadership skills, Risk Management and Analytical Skills.
        • The above position is a management position within the company and requires a person of high integrity with a wide range of a management skills.

              		The position commands an attractive remuneration package, which will be set dependent upon qualification and experience.
