The Shelter Officer is responsible for the day
to day management of the Recovery Shelter Program: coordination of VRCS
volunteers and external training agencies for the timely and effective delivery
of Build Back Safer awareness sessions, tools and materials to beneficiary
families and communities of the VRCS Tropical Cyclone Pam Recovery Program. The
candidate will also be responsible of daily work and capacity building of
volunteers, monitoring of shelter activities, ordering materials through
logistics, coordinating with other actors, etc. Job will be based initially to
West Tanna to possibility to expand to other locations afterwards.
Criteria:
- Technical background is essential (i.e. - technical construction education, builder, engineer, architect)
- Experience in training, leading a team and mentoring others
- Experience in community based programmes
- Highly motivated, able to work with minimal supervision
- Completed secondary school year 12 or higher
- Able to work well under pressure for extended periods
- Current driver’s licence with clean driving record
- Willing and able to travel as required by the role
