The Efate Land Management Area (ELMA) is a
proposed conservation area within central Efate, the aim of which is to
preserve Efate’s water sources and catchment areas, wildlife and resources for
the benefit of the environment and future generations. The ELMA Project Officer
will assist in the continued development and implementation of the ELMA
project. The position requires a broad skill set for a motivated and committed
individual. Project work will include undertaking a community environmental
education program, developing high level environmental management plans,
assisting in custom land negotiations, implementing on-the-ground environmental
management, developing project grant applications, and liaison between the
local communities, chiefs, conservation committees, provincial and national
government. The ELMA Officer will join a small project team.
