Job Description: The Vanuatu Department of Agriculture and Rural Development & the United Nations Development Programme, invites applications for a Risk Resilience Coordinator to be based in Port Vila, Vanuatu. This position will be to provide support for the integration of climate, environment and disaster risk into the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Forestry, Fisheries and Biosecurity (MALFFB) on its whole but with special attention to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD). This integration will be done with a strong focus on the operationalizing of the National Agriculture Sector Policy and coordination of recovery processes during times of disaster. The successful applicant will possess the following below.

Criteria:  A recognized degree in climate change, disaster risk management, environmental management, food security or agriculture from a recognized institution. 5 years previous experience in climate/environmental change and/or disaster risk management related to food security and livelihood. Previous experience liaising with a diverse group of stakeholders. Experience engaging with sector and division planners, local communities and relevant stakeholders. Leadership capability including being a good role model for subordinate staff. Sound understanding of Government of Vanuatu planning and budgeting process.  Excellent communication and computer skills Ability to work under pressure and work independently English and Bislama, French an advantage

Salary:

VT 2.3m per annum (incl. allowances)

Language:

English, Bislama, French an advantage.
