| | The Vanuatu Meteorological and Geo-hazard Department (VGMD) and National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) have secured funding for a large-scale national adaptation and disaster risk reduction project designed to address Vanuatu's immediate climate change adaptation needs and mitigate natural disaster risks. |
| | The provincial Disaster Officer will works as a part of NDMO to implement stategies in ensuring Vanuatu is better prepared and more able to respond to Natural Hazards. The provincial Disaster Officer will be contracted initially for 1 year and be based within the provincial centers in Sola (TORBA) and Tanna (Tafea), reporting to the NDMO office in Port Vila. | | The successful applicant will have: |
| | Criteria: |
| | - Year 12 leaver or Diploma in Disaster or Public Administration, Climate Change, Environmental studies or related field or related work experience; Proficient in written and spoken English and Bislama, when French and |
| | advantage |
| | - At least 1 year experience working in emergency or disaster related field within Vanuatu; Willing to travel whenever required; Driver's License; Selt-motivated and able to use initiative |
| | - Knwoledge in the use of Computer and software; Experience with Government of Vanuatu procedures; Experience in delivering training and awareness programs and activities |
| | - Demonstrate good leadership skills; Project Proposal experience. |
