| Live & Learn Environmental Education (Live & Learn) is seeking to recruit a suitable candidate to fill the position of Project Officer (Capacity Building & Training) to be based at the Port Vila Office. Live & Learn is a local non-government organisation aiming to reduce poverty and promote greater understanding of environmental and human sustainability through education, community |
| mobilization and supportive partnership. Contract Period – 6 months period (to 31 December 2013) and may be extended subject to staff performance and funding availability. |

| The successful candidate must have an excellent working knowledge of the UN’s Convention on the Rights of a Child and the central role of children in the pursuit of peace, including their role in public education through media, and at least three years working experience in facilitating and training of both adults and children in children’s rights and responsibilities, child participation and child |
| protection. The successful candidate will coordinate and organise capacity building activities for the target audiences in selected schools in Sanma and Shefa Provinces, assist in the establishment of peer education networks, facilitate opportunities for children to implement pilot and demonstration activities in the target countries. | Criteria: |
| - Understanding of sound and practical processes particularly in peace building and relationship building; Excellent skills in workshop facilitation and delivering presentations and training |
| - Demonstrated working experience of the human rights framework within the cultural context; Well developed written and communication and oral communication skills |
| - Ability to work with other staff and stake holders at all levels; Ability to work under pressure while maintaining tolerance, appropriate humour and patience; Ability to identify and solve problems in an accurate and timely |
| manner |
| - Preferably an undergraduate degree in a relevant area, and understanding of the socio-economic context of developing countries |
| - Experience in working for an NGO will be well regarded, and with schools and communities; Experience in developing rights based materials for education. |
