| | The National Advisory Board on Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction (NAB) is Vanuatu’s principal policy making and advisory body for disaster risk reduction and climate change programs and activities. The NAB seeks highly motivated and dedicated people to join its newly established Project Management Unit based in the Vanuatu |
| | Meteorology and Geo-Hazards department in Port Vila. This is an exciting opportunity to manage the delivery of a large-scale National Adaption and disaster Risk Reduction Project designed to address Vanuatu’s immediate climate change adaption needs and mitigate natural disaster risks. Contract is for one year, renewable up to three years. |
| | Duties and responsibilities: |
| | 1) Will lead the planning and implementation of the Mainstreaming Disaster Risk Reduction in Vanuatu Project |
| | 2) Will prepare workplans, budgets and procurement plans and ensure efficient work flows and processes, monitoring and evaluation and effective coordination among key implementing agencies. |
| | Interested applicant must possess the following: |
| | Criteria: |
| | - At least 5 years experience managing and coordinating medium to large-scale programs, with donor-funded program experience an advantage |
| | - A good technical understanding in a project related field, such as risk assessment, urban planning, spatial or temporal data management or operations of hazard forecast and warning systems |
| | - A tertiary qualification from a recognized institution in a relevant discipline |
| | - Excellent understanding of government procedures and processes, and ability to work with a range of agencies at national, provincial and local levels |
| | - Excellent writing, communication and inter-personal skills, including written and spoken Bislama and English |
