| | The Vanuatu Women’s Center (VWC) is a women’s NGO based in Vila with branches in Santo, Vanualava and Tanna working towards the elimination of violence against women and children in Vanuatu. Established in 1992, the VWC’s work is based on women’s human rights and the empowerment of women. The VWC is looking for a dynamic person for |
| | the position of Counselor for VWC in Vila. |
| | This position will be of a supervisory role, training and mentoring of other counselors. |
| | |
| | Duties and Responsibilities: |
| | 1) Providing face to face counseling to clients at VWC and during mobile counseling, as well as follow-up counseling and support to clients of VWC over the telephone and away from the VWC as acquired (eg on islands) |
| | 2) Provide training, group assessments and group supervision |
| | 3) Assess clients needs for legal representation and assistance from court |
| | 4) May be required to travel to island for short period |
| | 5) Liaising with referral Agencies on cases |
| | 6) Maintain clear and accurate clients’ records and assist to compile client data |
| | 7) May be required to represent VCW in meeting nationally |
| | 8) Respect confidentially and adhere to counselor protocol/guidelines. |

| | Criteria: |
| | - Must have University level education and/or relevant training or experience in counseling or psychology; Understanding of and commitment to human rights & women’s right issue |
| | - Skills in management, training and/or supervisory as well as mentor to others; Good written and oral bislama, english or french language skills. |
