| The Ministry of Education, with the assistance of UNICEF, is seeking to employ a ni-Vanuatu, under the guidance of Director of Education Services, who will be responsible for Education for Emergency (EIE) Activities at the Ministry of Education Office in Port Vila. | Duties and responsibilities: |
| 1) Coordinate and co-chair the EIE cluster/coordination group |
| In consultation with MOE colleagues, and UNICEF, save the children, Care int. emergency focal persons (and other partners) conduct meeting on a regular basis to plan for EIE preparedness and DRR activities as outlined in the EIE Action Plan |
| 2) Support PEOs to use participatory techniques with children, parents and teachers to identify suitable community-based activities |
| 3) Work closely with UNICEF and save the children EIE focal points |
| 4) Work closely with partners including other sectors, to develop applicable education materials on health education, safety and child protection, environmental protection and child rights messages, or other selected subjects |
| 5) Ensure that school base infrastructure are constructed in accordance with the MOE building standard (facility standard) |
| 6) Coordinate the education sector through guidance and communication with the NDMO and affected community (ies) to ensure assessment and response is timely, collaborative and needs of those affected |
| 7) Ensure coordination with other education sector partners, including those who support education facilities, e.g. health, protection, water and sanitation |
| 8) Carry out roles and responsibilities as outlined in the Education Cluster Coordinator ToR |
| 9) There will be occasional travel to provinces in line with the training schedule of the EIE plan and as required. |
| Interested applicant must possess the following criteria: |
| Criteria: |
| - Completion of Diploma in Education, or Social Science; Some teaching or training experience; Some experience in emergencies (including involvement in rapid assessment, preparedness responses |
| rehabilitation etc) |
| - Fluency in english and bislama, fluency in both english and french is an advantage; Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work, including in disaster affected areas |
| - Proficiency in computer programs: word/excel/powerpoint and the use of the internet. |
