The Interim National Programme Coordinator will be based in the UN Women Office in |
| Port Vila and will work with the Vanuatu Government and NGO partners, Parliament and provincial, municipal and other local government bodies and the national media to implement the GEPG programme. The interim National Coordinator (NC) will be responsible for overall project coordination including the implementation of a range of governance activities at |
| national and local level. The interim National Coordinator will be responsible to the Regional Programme Manager through the Deputy Regional Programme Manager of the GEPG Programme, based in Suva, Fiji for technical support and will be supported by a local Administrative Assistant, and a logistical and technical team based in Suva. The interim NC will work |
| closely alongside the national Country Projects Coordinator who will provide oversight. Furthermore, the Interim National Programme Coordinator will liaise with the GEPG National Steering Group for programme coordination purpose. | Key Responsibilities: |
| 1) Coordinate the GEPG National Steering Group for purpose of programme alignment with government priorities and partner cooperation |
| 2) Responsible for the implementation of the GEPG 2011 workplan: Arranging capacity building and provide technical support to key stakeholders and partners for purpose of increasing gender equality in political governance at all levels |
| 3) Continued collaboration with relevant national & provincial government bodies, NGOs policy makers, Members of Parliament, Electoral Management Body, the media, political parties and other national bodies and leaders |
| 4) Organize national and local consultations, workshops and support the missions of regional programme staff associated with GEPG implementation |
| 5) Reporting on outcomes and impact of capacity building workshops through identified reporting mechanisms. |
| Interested applicant must possess the following: |
| Criteria: |
| - A tertiary degree or equivalent qualification in social development, preferable politics, administration or development studies or a related field; Training in gender and mainstreaming gender into national |
| and local level development projects or activities and sound working knowledge on key gender and governance issues; Experience with parliamentary, electoral and local government bodies and political |
| parties; Experience in management of community education/community development programs at national level and oversight of the logistics and administration of project implementation |
| - Familiar with the National Women’s Movement, leading Government and NGO contacts as well as Gender Equality networks and stakeholders; Familiar with donor accountability requirements and project |
| accounting and proven capacity to provide timely and quality reports; Excellent communication, interpersonal and liaison skills and experience in coordination; Fluency in english both oral and written. |
