| The Pacific Institute of Public Policy, or PiPP as we like to call it, is an independent, non-partisan and not-for-profit think tank based in Port Villa, Vanuatu. PiPP exists to stimulate and support policy debate in the Pacific by conducting research grounded in empirical analysis, communicating research outcomes En user relevant languages and formats, and providing |
| inclusive forums for debate. Due to the ongoing growth of the institute we have exciting opportunities for a Senior Research officer. The Senior Research Officer will be responsible for leading the institute’s policy relevant research programme. Job descriptions are available on request. This will involve: |
| 1) Designing conceptual and methodological frameworks for conducting original research |
| 2) Conducting and overseeing the implementation of research projects taking into account financial targets and other performance indicators |
| 3) Writing research reports, briefing notes and journal articles for publication on a regular basis on contemporary policy issues in the Pacific |
| 4) Leading and mentoring research staff and contractors |
| 5) Contributing to the sharing of research findings using creative and accessible communications methods. |
| Interested applicants must have the following requirements: |
| Criteria: |
| - You will have excellent research skills and at least 3 years of experience working in a developing country context an preferably in any of the Pacific Island countries; Experience liaising with research |
| organisations, government stakeholders, donor partners, private sector representatives, and media would be an advantage |
| - With previous experience working for a policy think tank or an academic institution an advantage; The ideal candidate will have a post graduate degree and / or a PhD in Political Science, Development |
| Studies, Economics and/or other Social Sciences In addition |
| - Excellent communications skills (verbal and written); Additionally the successful candidate will have an understanding of the main policy issues in the Pacific region and internationally. |
